How Pickup Works When You Land at OGG
Our pickup is a self-service system: no counter, no paperwork, no waiting in line.
1. Check your phone. Before you land, we send you an email and a text with a link to your personal pickup page. It includes directions and photos of your actual rental car.
2. Collect your luggage. Then follow your pickup page to get to your car in Kahului.
3. Find your car and drive away. Everything was completed when you booked, so there’s no counter to visit and no paperwork to sign.
Arriving Late at Night or on a Delayed Flight
Many rental desks close in the evening. Ours never does, because there’s no desk to close.
Your car is ready whatever time your flight lands. If your flight is delayed, diverted or cancelled, your reservation isn’t affected — simply come and collect your car when you arrive.
The same applies to very early departures. You can return your vehicle at any hour, day or night.
How to Return Your Car
Before your return date, we send you an email and a text with a link to your return confirmation page. Then:
- Fill the fuel tank.
- Give the car a quick tidy.
- Return the car to the location in your return instructions.
- Complete the return questionnaire on your phone.
We recommend choosing a return time about two hours before your scheduled departure. That leaves room for check-in and security without rushing.
We photograph and document the condition of every vehicle before it goes out. Those photos are your protection as much as ours — they’re the reference showing the car came back as it left.
Before You Land: What to Know
Where we are. Makoa Rental Car Maui is based at 2000 Maui Veterans Hwy in Kahului, in Central Maui, minutes from OGG.
Drivers. Additional drivers are free and easy to add. There is no young driver fee: drivers 21 and over pay the same rate.
Mileage. Unlimited, on every vehicle.
Extras. Baby seats, boosters, beach chairs and coolers can be added to your reservation. They’ll be in the car when you pick it up.
Cancellation. Free up to five days before your arrival.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a Makoa counter inside the terminal? No. We’re a local off-airport company based in Kahului. Your pickup instructions are sent to your phone before you land, and your car is ready when you arrive.
What if my flight lands at 2 a.m.? Your car will be ready. Pickup and return are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Where do I find my car? On your pickup page, in the link we send by text and email. It includes directions and photos of your car.
Can I return the car somewhere other than the usual location? Contact us before your rental and we’ll let you know what’s possible for your dates.
What do I need to bring? A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a payment card.

The Kahului Airport – OGG is Maui’s Main airport located at central Maui. The Kaanapali airport is the second one, a smaller, inter island airport located on the west shore of the island of Maui.
