Rental Info

Booking your rental vehicle can be done over the phone or online. Online reservations can be made on your laptop or mobile device in minutes. We'll ask for information about your trip to Maui as well as some personal information.

Pickup location: Start by choosing OGG – Kahului Airport as your pickup location.

Dates and times: Please select the exact dates and times you'd like to pick up and return your vehicle. Remember to select a return time about 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure, giving you enough time to return your rental safely, check in for your flight, and pass through security.

Extras: Traveling with a baby or child? We offer top-of-the-line car seats and boosters as an add-on — placed in the vehicle before your arrival. A pair of Tommy Bahama beach chairs and a cooler are also available, and prepaid fuel lets you return your rental with any amount of gas in the tank.

Personal information: Renters must be at least 21 years old and provide full name, date of birth, driver's license number (with expiration and state/country of issuance), personal auto insurance provider and policy number, a valid credit card, cell phone number, email, and physical address.

Any notes, flight information, or special needs can be added in the "Additional Comments" box at the end of the booking page. After signing our terms and submitting your reservation, you'll receive a confirmation email — your rental car is then guaranteed.

You've arrived at the OGG-Kahului Airport — check your email and mobile phone, we'll send your rental car pickup instructions via text and email by the time you land on Maui.

Follow the instructions to locate your rental car at the OGG Kahului Airport parking lot, about 100 yards across from the baggage claim exit. Pictures of your rental will be attached showing the make, model, color, and exact location, along with a condition report. We encourage you to document any pre-existing scuffs, dents, or scratches upon arrival, for your own peace of mind.

The key to your rental car will be located in a lockbox — instructions to access it are part of the message we send.

Please note: an up-to-$24 parking fee is required to exit the airport parking lot. Kahului Airport pickup is available 24/7, and we can accommodate late arrivals too — just a short 2-3 minute walk from baggage claim to your car, no lines, no shuttles.

Returning your rental: Prior to your return date, you'll get an email and text with a link to your rental car return confirmation page. Complete the return questionnaire — it's basically the pickup procedure in reverse. Please top off the gas tank and clean the car as best you can before returning it. We photograph and document the condition of every vehicle before pickup, which serves as proof no damage occurred during your rental.

To make changes to your existing reservation, simply reply to your confirmation email with the edit you'd like to make. You can also email Reservations@carrentalmaui.com directly.

At the end of the booking process, you'll enter your credit card information to hold your reservation. We accept all major credit cards, and our website is secure with encrypted payment information. We do not charge a deposit upon booking — your card is only validated.

On the day of your arrival, your card will be charged the full amount of the reservation including all taxes and fees, and you'll receive a receipt by email.

Taxes and fees: The State of Hawaii imposes a car rental surcharge of $7 per day, and the General Excise Tax (GET) rate is 4.5% of the total rental cost. An airport parking fee of up to $24 will be required to exit the parking lot on your arrival day.

All renters must maintain an active personal auto insurance policy for the duration of the rental — our commercial liability policy is secondary to yours and covers bodily injuries only. For complete disclosure, see our Rental Agreement page.

Full Coverage: Complete protection in case of a collision or damage to your rental vehicle, whether it was your fault or the other driver's, with a $2,000 deductible. Our Peace of Mind option protects your car, covers bodily injuries, and includes 24/7 roadside assistance with a $0 deductible.

In the event of an accident: First check that everyone is okay, then call 911. If medical attention is needed, ask for an ambulance. File a police report in any case, then notify us of the situation.

Roadside Assistance: Available for just $12/day, covering Key Lockout Service, Jump-Start Service, Flat Tire Assistance, Tire Replacement, and Fuel Delivery.

We do not charge for cancellations outside of 5 days from your date and time of arrival. If you cancel within 5 days of arrival, the cancellation fee is 30% of your reservation total before taxes.

Early returns: No refunds are issued for remaining days — no exceptions.

Smoking inside the rental vehicle is strictly prohibited and carries an up-to-$250 cleaning charge. No unauthorized drop-offs — your rental must be dropped off at the location and time selected at booking, unless authorized by one of our representatives.

Fuel tank should be returned full, as it was at pickup. Returning with less than a full tank carries a $25 recovery fee in addition to fuel cost.
